LMM Valentines Challenge #28

Are you done with all of your Valentine cards yet? I hope not because Little Miss Muffet is hosting a Valentines & Love Challenge #28.

This was a technique challenge for me as well. I wanted to give a go at adding textured in the fur using my Copics. There a some mistake, but overall I am pleased.

My TOP TIP: I used an exacto knife to trace the mouth of this gorgeous pooch in order to place my heart die cuts. You can make any image fit the occasion with this trick.

Entered in the following challenges:
Digi Doodle Shops Best - #93 Love Is In the Air
Truly Scrumptious - #73 Love and Hearts
Use it on Tuesday - #24 All About Love
Top Tip Tuesday - #69 Valentine's and Tipper Week

Tiddly Inks Celebration #77

You must must must see the adorable new release "Wryn" at the Tiddly Store. TOO cute! What a way to start off the New Year - FABULOUS!

Welcome back and Happy New Year to everyone! Just a note: our regular challenges are changing to last two weeks, so you now have plenty of time to participate. As well our DT will blog Inky inspirations for you each week, so please stop by and give us all some love. Now on to our current challenge: The Tiddly Inks Design Team is back and ready to start the year off with a "Celebration!" Any celebration, and don't forget a Tiddly!

Oh my gosh, I think I am in a Holiday coma. When I finally dragged myself to my craft table, which had been confiscated for the Christmas dinner table, I had a lot of searching to do. I couldn't find half my stuff. So scraps it was, along with some new Christmas goodies.

This card is to celebrate my hubby and I's 19th wedding Anniversary which is January 30th. He saw me colouring the image and ran off to grab some googly eyes. He very desperately wanted me to use them on the girl so she would looked shocked.

October Afternoon DP - Fly a Kite
Sentiments - SU: Treat Yourself, Studio G: always and forever
I used my NEW EK success Journal page punch and Tim Holtz game spinners. I didn't realize the dials had turned down until I uploaded the photo, oh well.

My little darling 6 year old daughter played along with me this week too. She has some fun cards she made to send to her extended family. How cute. With Christy's permission, I also made up a Inkspot watermark just for her.

Jillybean - Watermelon and Gazpacho Soup DP
Boo hand wrote "having" over the Fun In the Sun on the tag.
She wanted everyone to know that the yellow is the glow off the Angel's wings.
So glad you stopped by. Please don't forget to check out my Tiddly peeps at the challenge blog, they work so hard and design so well.
Don't forget to check out the Teamies! Wowzer - you won't be disappointed.

Valentine Mock Up

My husband surprised me for Christmas with the Sweet Centers stamp set and 1 pkg of sweet treat cups from Stampin Up.

This is the mock up for my daughters valentine's day card for her junior kindergarten classmates. I will pick up a couple of packages of the pink and red Valentine themed Smarties (similar to M&M's) to colour coordinate, I just didn't have any on hand today.

At my daughters school board, like most school boards in Ontario Canada, only NUT FREE products made in nut free facilities can be sent to school. Smarties are one of the acceptable brands.

I used Flowerbug's Inkspot's idea of a tag slide inside the card to remove treats without destroying the card.

Gone INKognito has a layout using the tab slide in the front of the card mounted under what would be my dark pink mat, making the inside of the card look cleaner. I may play with this layout too to see what I like best.

Details:
Stamps: SU - Sweet Centers, Studio G Clear Stamps - 100% Sweet
Ink: Dollar Store - Pink pigment
Paper: SU - retired DP, white, pink
Accessories: Sweet Treat Cups, colluzle, round tab punch template

Perfect Treats for Little Pilots

My daughters year end dance recital is coming up. Their dance routine is called The Pilots and they dance to a number that goes "... we're flying in an airplane looking out the window watching the clouds go by..."

I wanted to make a sweet inexpensive treat for all the girls in class for their last lesson next week. I had seen Sweet-tart rolls at the dollar store and thought I could wrap them in cloud themed DP - like their costumes.

I did a search on Splitcoaststampers for candy wrappers and found a cute example using life saver candy rolls and streamer out the top found here. Then I remembered that my friend Kerry J @ Cards by Kerry had done some sort of candy wrapper for her son's classmates for Valentine's, but couldn't quite remember what it was.

Kerry had made these adorable little airplanes using sticks of gum (like Juicy Fruit), life savers and rolled candies (like Rockets or US Smarties) held together with small rubber bands (Kerry's sample). I found the instructions for these treats here.

I don't advocate gum for kids my daughters age, but these darn treats were too cute to pass up.

You don't have to re-wrap these babies like I did either because all gum packages like this come with white paper all ready for your favorite stamp. Not a lot of work needed at all.

Sole Mates

Too punny, maybe, but I couldn't help myself. This is my submission for the Sketch #4 challenge on My Paper World

I cheated on this card, however. For the life of me I was not able to reverse the image as per the instructions on Splitcoaststampers using acetate. So, I scanned a stamped image (without the bubbles), flipped it over in Photoshop and printed it onto cardstock, then stamped the next fish with the bubbles so that they would be facing one another.

I added the wave cut out last minute this morning, because I thought the card was looking a little too bland. The DP is left over scraps from a previous scrapbook project.

Wild Thing

This is my entry for the challenge on i {heart} 2 stamp and Verve Visual. I thought that the Verve stamp Wild Thing sentiment would be perfect for this image. This was a really fun challenge, I'm glad I attempted it.

The paper is Rhonna Farrer "Flourish and Fun, from my Christmas grab that I actually never ended up using. I love the swirls, it was almost a shame to cover them up with anything.

I painted the elephant with watercolour paints and the hearts with Tombow markers. The main heart has red Stickles. Both centre squares are raised with sticky foam dots.

The centre ribbon and the 2 tear drop style ribbons on the upper left are the same ribbon, the centre is just revealing the reverse side.

Happy Love

I had to make an Anniversary card for my husband, we will be married 15 years tomorrow. Since its so close to Valentines Day, I couldnt help but use red and white.

The candy machine stamp (retired SU - Treat Yourself) was coloured with my Staedtler water colour pencils and I used a the following all from the dollar store: heart punch, heart ribbon and pre-made sentiment.

Sweet Stuff - Oldy, but goody

This is my submission for the sketch challenge on I Heart 2 Stamp. It's BRIGHT, but sweet, the paper just reminded me of candy.

It looks like everything old is new again. I used retired SU Very Punny for the image and sentiment. As well, to my great delight I found (stored away in an art box), my Staedtler watercolour pencil set. I bought them a few years back for a watercolour class I had taken, but had forgotten I had them. They are SO EASY to use. You don't need any other product to lift or spread the colour. You just use a damp paint brush. I then clear embossed over the lolly's. The emboss changed the pigment of the lolly's some and I think my emboss stamp may have been slightly dirty. I will have to be more careful next time.
