Tiddly Vintage Mothers Day

It's time for Tiddly Inks Tuesday Challenge again. This weeks challenge #48 - Mothers Day Flair is to create a VINTAGE Mothers Day card. Some of the DT went Shabby Chic, too kewl.

Wow, was I ever nervous about this challenge. I am not a vintage card maker. I love seeing them, and there are many amazing vintage makers out there, but it certainly isn't my specialty. And of course I went Grandma's attic vintage.

For my card, I used "June" from Tiddly Inks First Birthday release. How could I not purchase her - the DT and Birthday Blog guest made her look irresistible.

I coloured her with Copics and added white pencil crayon to her hair. I paper pieced her dress & bow with MME - Wild Asparagus gingham and paper stained it after adding W5/W3 Copic shadows. I used a sponge to add the paper stain around the image. All gingham-ed up and and paper stained, doesn't June look like she just stepped off the set of Anne of Green Gables or Little House on the Prairie.

The top note style edge border - Annie's Edge and the Scallop Swirl frame are from SVG Cuts.

All of the DP is from MME - Wild Asparagus pack and the first layer is sewn to the cardstock. EVERY THING on this card except the ribbon and buckle are stained in a Coppery/Olive Green pigment pad. I added a Wilton 4" Bakers paper doily, some silk flowers, a SU Buckle, K&C border, green ribbon, pearls, a chipboard circle tag and stamped a Studio G sentiment on the tag then marker stitched the edges.

Hope she doesn't look too dusty for being dug out of Grandma's attic?

Casing Myself - Mothers Day

When I first made the card shown here, I thought it would make a good Mother's Day card layout. I ended up changing the image and sentiment. So I cased myself, it happens.

Mothers Day Window

Originally I had intended or attempted to make a single layer card with a window cut out. It evolved some and is no longer a single layer, but I am satisfied with the outcome.

I really love the new Sizzix - Butterfly die that I purchased from The Memory Keeper - that store is huge! I embossed each butterfly then used my VersaMark pen on the edges and the embossed areas. Stickles on the flowers added some sparkle. I find the marker has more control on embossed items with the pen rather then just swiping with the my VersaMark pad.

After I finished the card I realized why this colour combo seemed so familiar, it's the colour palette of my DD's room

Details:
Stamps: SU - Mixed Bouquet, SU - All Year Cheer II

Polka Dots and Paisley

Alright, alright, it's a bit too early for Mother's Day, but once I had this card almost complete I was thinking about a sentiment, Happy Mother's Day seemed to fit the bill.

This card filled a few briefs for me: 1. It's not cased - hurray! 2. It fits the requirements for the "Tall and Thin" challenge on No Time to Stamp 3. I finally used the bleaching effect from the tutorial on SCS found here, and 4. It's monochromatic which has been catching my eye lately.

Both the background and the main image are bleach stamped with Polka Dots and Paisley. I am happy with the end result. I had at one point tied a small bow at the bottom of the image, but decided less is more and removed it.
