SFC118 - Paper Piecing Monster

So our challenge today SFC118 at the Squigglefly Challenge Blog is to... wait for it, use paper piecing somewhere on your craft. How easy is that!

Don't know about you, but my wallet takes a major hit this time of year. Not only back to school, but many birthday's, Thanksgiving and X-Mas, YIKES! So to be good I went on a search for CHEAP and was amazed at the number of inexpensive image at the Squigglefly Store, there are even a bunch for as low as 99 cents.

This is Monster Mania: Smiley by artist Jane Beljo, available at the Squigglefly Store and he is only $1.50! This adorable little monster is paper pieced in October Afternoon - Rocket Age, actually all the DP used is from the Rocket Age set. I just love the old 70's style computer punch card, it reads Launch Calibration, too cute. Oh and I had just the right size googley eye to fit this monster :D

Don't forget to check out the Squigglefly Store for freebies so you can be entered in the weekly draw for a prize. As well Marlene's Marvels have a wonderful array of samples for todays challenge over the Squigglefly Challenge Blog.

Sketch Challenge SFC116

It's sketch time at the Squigglefly Challenge Blog - Sketch Challenge SFC116.

I grabbed this fantastic new digi called Witch Moon by Brian Lock available at The Squigglefly Store.

The DP are all Halloween scraps I have had for ages. The bat and the "Eeek" are from a scrap sticker set, and both the "Happy" & "Halloween" are dollar bin stamps.

Have Goose, Will Travel

Today's easy peasy challenge over at the Squigglefly Challenge blog is: Colour Me Blue & Green SFC114. Simply use Blue and Green in your project.

We love to see your all of your entries, but in order to win a prize, you must use a Squigglefly image and here's the link to "Freebies" at the Squigglefly store.

I had coloured this Cheryl Alger's - Goose Riders for another challenge, but never ended up using it. It was just sitting on my desk and I thought it would be perfect for today's challenge. I threw it together, with last weeks Cute Card Thursday Challenge - Sketch #179, but since I am too late to enter for that one, I can use this weeks A Pinch & a Punch challenge. Added a few die cut arrows, punched brads and the faux sticker is actually from the cover sample sheet of the Echo Park - Little Boy DP package.

Go grab yourself some "freebies" at the Squigglefly Store, and play along with us this week and don't forget to hop on over to the Challenge Blog to check out the Design Team projects.

Squiggle Fly - Water Works!

It's time for the Squigglefly's Monday Challenge - SFC #112 Water Works! What do you think of when we say Water Works? The beach, bubbles, someone crying?

I just HAD to use this cute image Feeding Frenzy by artist Cheryl Alger. It's so fun when combined with Echo Park's Splash DP.

As you can see, I made another Gel card for my project. It was such wonderful messy fun, I had to give it another go. Here's an easy gel card tutorial from Splitcoaststampers so you can make your own.

Head on over to the Challenge blog and be inspired by other DT projects and play along with us this week. You don't have to use a Squigglefly image to play along, but if you, you will eligible for a prize.

I'm glad you could drop by and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Butt Ends

My apologies in advance for being a little saucy with this post, but I think I have been hanging around Marlene's blog Disguised as a Grown-Up a bit too much. She is starting to rub off of me.

I figure it this way, I'm just getting home from vacation, and will have a HUGE bundle of things to unpack and wash. I'll need a sense of humor today. So I used one of Marlene's "saucy" images called Live a Little available from the Squigglefly's Store. I would say saucier image, but they all have a bit of spice to them.

Can you guess what the theme for Squigglefly's Challenge blog is? That's right challenge #110 is Button Blowout! I just had such a giggle when my brain read butt ends and not buttons. Hence the image and this silly card.

I glued a whole lot of "button" obviously on a simple layout using Echo Park - Little Boy. The sentiment is from my own foolish brain.

Kraftastic Retirement & New Artist

Welcome back to another Squigglefly's Kraftastic project - Challenge # 108, use Kraft paper in your Squigglefly project.

I have two cards today. Originally I made the BBQ Retirement card for this challenge, but then decided I wanted to try my hand at colouring on Kraft paper, which I have NEVER done before. We have a new artist at Squigglefly too, so what better then to showcase one of her images in my first Kraft/Prismacolour pencil attempt. This image is Secrets by LuLu Lancaster.

I have a very select amount of Prismacolour pencils, in fact I had to run out and get the colours needed for skin tone just for this project. It's a medium I haven't used, it will take some practicing on my part, but it does look lovely on Kraft paper. The pencils are nice and creamy so blend well together. If only I had more colours to have done a proper job.

Unfortunately, my one little secret friend looks like she is naked up top, it's actually a creamy yellow colour, but didn't photograph that way.

Here is a great Tutorial by Dorcas Designs on how to colour skin tone on Kraft paper using Prismacolur pencils. I followed her instructions and colours, but was not able to get all the dimension and shading she does. I suspect I coloured each colour too hard on the paper? Her KRAFT work is STUNNING.

Card #2: Squigglefly's - Kiss the Cook by Chesney Young.

For my original submission for the Kraftastic Challenge, I used SU - Manchester DP which is a perfect match for Kraft & Baja Breeze cardstocks. I paper pieced the apron and pants with coordinating Manchester paper then shaded areas with W3 and W5 Copics. Double Scallop SVG border by Life On the Lamb.
This card was made for my very wonderful next door neighbor who just retired as the Fire Chief for our local Fire Department. Now that he is The Man of the House, he'll have lots of time to grill.

Heavy Metal Rock Star

Dust out your brads, grommets and paper clips, it's time for the Heavy Metal Challenge #106 over at the Squigglefly Challenge blog. Add any or all of your metal bits to your Squigglefly creations and away you go. How easy is that, we all have a little metal somewhere in our craft stash. Choosing WHAT to use will be the challenge.

I went one step further and made mine a Heavy Metal Rock Star theme, well, punk rock, but you get what I mean.

I Copic'ed up Rock Star by Chesney Young and paper pieced her Guitar in DCWV - Blossoms and Butterflies paper pack. All the DCWV has metallic silver elements in it. I also used two different silver cardstock, one for the background mat, the other for the accordion fold. My mother-in-law gave me a roll of perforated metal which I used in the background. I have no idea what it's called.

The layout is a take on Deconstruction Jen Challenge #9. I didn't use a half moon piece as in the sketch because the metallic flourish on the brown DP formed a half circle. It's a bit of a short cut, but I suppose it's about being inspired and I didn't want to cover up the metallic flourish.

The sentiment is by Studio G Clear stamps.

Don't forget to check out the rest of Marlooney's Marvel's (that's our DT groups name, catchy) over at the Challenge Blog. Have a great Monday, I am off to stain the fence then take the kids to the splash pad.

Squigglefly Watermelon News

Okay, ready for some exciting news? I have been asked to participate on the Design Team for the Squigglefly Challenge Blog. Hurray! What is very cool about the Squigglefly store is that it houses images & sentiments by 43 seperate artist - now that's a lot of variety. Your sure to find something to suit your style.

As well, check out today's challenge over at the Squigglefly Challenge Blog. Today's challenge #103 Playing Favorites, choose your favorite image from the Squigglefly store for you project. And don't forget to say "hey" to all the New DT's. Now on to my card.

This gorgeous little sweetheart is Watermelon Bee by artist Cheryl Alger. Isn't she adorable. Reminds me of my little ones; what sweet, messy fun. It just screams "SUMMER" to me.

I played along with this fabulous sketch challenge #6 by fellow Tiddly Inker Jen over at @ her blog Deconstructing Jen. I am a huge fan of DP panels, so this was right up my alley.

The DP is all from Jillibean Soup: Watermelon Gazpacho & two coordinating circle Journaling Sprouts or tags. Of course my image is all done up with Copics, I also popped her up on dimensional. The sentiment and "love" heart are from retired SU set "Treat Yourself". Actually it was one of my very first stamp sets, I won it at an SU Retirement Party a few years back.

Submitted for the following Challenges:
Deconstructing Jen - Sketch #6
Frosted Designs - Journaling Tags
7 Kids College Fund - #23 Feeling Hot Hot Hot
The Rubber Cafe - Summer

Bubble Gum Birthday

Don't you just love this adorable little Bubble Blower by Cheryl Alger that I got from the Squigglefly store. I love the idea of this image, a great big bubble ready to pop. I thought to myself wouldn't it be kind of cute to see an image of when it did pop too, low and behold there is one over at Sassy Cheryl's. How funny.

I just now after uploading my images, figured out that I made a tragic mistake. I coloured the hat incorrectly, the hat brim wraps all the way around the left hand side of her face. Must fix that next time. I can't fix it now, it's all sealed up in an envelope for a party my daughter is going to tomorrow morning. That's a big oops.

Sassy Cheryl's is also having a Make a Tent Card challenge #68. So I made this Twisted Easel card with a tent topper. Directions found here. The challenge wasn't clear if a Tent Topper was okay, I'm going with it, what the hey, I've already messed up the hat brim.

I had already made the background for this card last month but ended up changing DP at the last minute. I had made a whole other card as seen in this post. When I was digging through my scrap drawer this afternoon and found this Easel Card, I remembered Chery's challenge and decided to add the scallop circle for a tent topper. The DP is DCWV - Blossom's & Butterflies on SU Chocolate Chip. Computer generated sentiment "You blow me away".

Now although was purchased at Squigglefly, it is also a Cheryl Alger image. Hope it still qualifies for the Sassy Cheryl challenge, kind of a gray area really. Although with my colouring mistake maybe it shouldn't.

I wish this could be viewed as is in RL. The light pink dress looks almost gauzy.

Tiddly Diva's Pretty Palette

Good morning everyone and welcome to another Tuesday Tiddly's Challenge #52 - Darling Diva. Get out your rhinestones and your bling, because today's challenge is to go Diva-licious with your Tiddly image - make a card worthy for a Diva.

What's more Diva then gracefully lounging while eating CHOCOLATES. I had half a dozen sentiments I could have used with this fabulous"Bonbons Diva" image which is BRAND NEW today at the Tiddly Inks store. Any sentiment about attitude, chocolate or being awesome would go perfectly with this new Diva. I finally chose the Classy & Fabulous sentiment from Squigglefly.com, so that the inside of the card could read "you are both things - enjoy your special day".

I had so much fun with this challenge. The colours also follow the My Time Made Easy.com colour challenge or Pretty Palette #11. Thankfully the Turquoise Fun Flocks worked perfectly with this gorgeous October Afternoon DP. And how could I not paper piece this Diva. This image screamed out for paper piecing. I added a yellow brad to the chaise for dimension.

As well this card is being submitted in the last Wednesday's Creative Craft World Challenge - use 3 or more flowers.

Hope you join along, and don't forget to check out the other awesome DT submissions at the Tiddly Inks Challenge blog.

Other Accessories:
SU ribbon buckle
SU Top Note Die
Baker's paper Doily
Metal flowers

Love is Never Ending SFC100

Don't you just love when a card falls into place really quickly. I knew I was going to use this Squigglefly sentiment as the main stamp on a card using the Images by Heather M simple label SVG, but I didn't have a layout in mind. Then I jumped over to Squigglefly Challenge Blog this morning. Today's challenge is to use 3 of anything. It instantly hit me, 3 DP strips, so I ran over to my chalkboard and quickly sketched out this:
The Squigglefly Challenge #100 "Triple Digits Baby" - 3 of anything, works perfectly for this wedding card.

A childhood friend recently had a lovely Civil Ceremony and I wanted to whip up something to congratulate her and her hubby. I just love this sentiment, much more romantic then Congratulations. I added the double circle in PS and re-sized the sentiment to fit.

I used Teresa Collins Gray Flourishes DP - which I love. Yes I went monochromatic again, it looks so classy, and I don't do classy well. I also love using 3 panels of DP, kinda do it a lot. This challenge was MADE for me. I paper pierced the top portion of the card to help make the black not look too flat. I had to play with the photo adjustments afterward so that the piercing would show. I hope everything doesn't look washed out.
